When it comes to reinventing the wheel, Mercedes-Benz has it down to a fine art. A perfect example is the newly redesigned and revamped 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV. Bringing together comfort, convenience and innovation, this newly designed GLE is something to behold, and not to be missed.

Sure, there are lots of SUVs to consider out there if you’re in the market, but the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE stands out from the crowd not just for its stunning exterior look and bold front end, but for its futuristic interior features, powerful and efficient engine choices, and road capabilities.  With a cabin packed with high-tech amenities, and a powertrain that can be quite potent, Mercedes-Benz has improved the 2020 GLE in all the right ways.

There are two versions of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE, both with 5-passenger seating (and available 7-seater as an option): the GLE 350 4MATIC and the GLE 450 4MATIC.

To start, there is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 4MATIC model. This GLE is equipped with a 2.0L inline-four turbocharged engine that produces 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque and is coupled with a 9G-TRONIC transmission and paddle shifters. The GLE 350 can tow up to 3,500kg. The GLE 350 comes equipped with a highly capable 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard, along with an auto start/stop function, and those all-important heated front seats.

If you’re looking for a few more interior amenities and a more powerful (yet efficient) drive, you’ll want to check out the GLE 450 4MATIC. This particular model comes equipped with a 3.0L inline-six twin scroll turbocharged EQ Boost engine that produces 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Featuring a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, the GLE 450 can also tow up to 3,500kg. A fully variable 4MATIC all-wheel drive system can send up to 100% power to one wheel at a time if needed for confident driving on any road conditions.

What exactly is EQ Boost? Mercedes-Benz describes it as an integrated starter-generator that can supply up to 21 horsepower and allows for fuel-free coasting while also recapturing energy during braking. The EQ Boost system teams a 48-volt lithium-ion battery with the 3.0L engine to boost power and torque for immediate response. The EQ Boost system also helps reduce the weight of the engine (by powering formerly belt-driven components like the water pump and air-conditioning compressor).

Step inside either of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE models and you’ll be greeted with style and comfort and a host of technological advancements for the model. The 2020 GLE features Mercedes-Benz’ MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) onboard entertainment and information system, as well as amenities such as heated and massaging front seats, and all the safety features you’ve come to expect from a company dedicated to road safety, like Mercedes-Benz.
