• Why is my check engine light on?

Your check engine light might be on for any number of reasons. However, you should always take your check engine light seriously. Although it's often a minor problem, it could indicate a major one. If your check engine light turns on, don't feel like you need to immediately pull over onto the side of the road. Take the time to consult your owner’s manual to learn what might have caused the light to turn on. If you don't immediately notice any problem with your vehicle (loss of power, strange noises, etc.), then continue on your way, keeping on the lookout for any changes in driving. When you arrive at your destination, contact your dealership as soon as possible and book a service appointment. Remember -- even if it's often a very small issue, your check engine light could indicate more serious problems.

  • How to I check the oil level in my motor?

Checking your oil level frequently is one of the best things you can do ensure that your vehicle's motor leads a long and happy life. Not only is it an important task, it's also an extremely easy one. Open up the hood to find your oil tank, which usually has a bright orange stopper, or the word 'oil' written on it. Take off the cap to reveal the dipstick. Pull this out, wipe it off with a clean rage, and place it gently back into the tank. Pull the dipstick back out after a few moments, and take a look at the results. The dipstick usually has two distinct markings. For our purposes here, you'll need to check as to whether or not the marking left behind on the dipstick by the oil is in the 'dry' section of the stick or not. If it is, this indicates that you need to change your oil as soon as possible. Come make an appointment at the dealership, and we can do this quickly and reliably.

  • When do I have to change my oil?

We suggest that you change your oil at the frequency recommended by your vehicle's manual, as this is the sure-fire way to keep your motor in the best possible condition. You can also change your oil by yourself, but if you are not comfortable carrying out this process on your own, you can always bring your vehicle to our dealership, where we will do it for a small fee. Whereas it was previously recommended that you change your oil every 5,000km or 3 months, todays oil is a higher quality than it used to be and your driving habits often play a role in the equation. For example, if you only occasionally make long voyages, you can likely go up to six months between oil changes with no negative consequences to your vehicle's motor. In short, the frequency with which you should change your oil is dependent on a number of factors, but in general, refer to your owner's manual.

  • How do I change a tire?

Even though it's easier than ever to simply call your roadside assistance provider when something goes wrong, it's still a useful skill to be able to change a flat tire on your own. You should know that it's not difficult to change a tire, so long as you have the right tools on hand. Make sure that you always have the following tools stored in your vehicle: a jack, a cross-shaped lug wrench (also known as a wheel wrench), a flashlight, and a spare tire (some vehicles include a spare by default, others don't, so plan accordingly).

Start by engaging the emergency handbrake to prevent unwanted movement during the tire change process. Remove the hubcap of the flat tire, and then use the lug wrench to loosen the bolts that hold the wheel in place. Place your jack underneath one of your vehicle's jack points (small notches that are usually located behind the front wheels and in front of the rear wheels), and crank the jack until the tire of your vehicle is 5cm off the ground. Unscrew the bolts, then remove the flat tire. Put the spare tire in place and tighten the bolts, initially by hand. Always tighten the bolts in a diagonal order. Finally, re-lower the vehicle and then remove the jack. Don't hesitate to stop by later to check the air pressure in your spare tire

  • How do I synchronize my iPhone to my car's Bluetooth?

Connecting your iPhone to your Bluetooth is dependent on your vehicle, but generally the process is similar for all phones. Simply navigate to your smartphone's home screen, choose 'settings,' and then choose 'Bluetooth.' After this, select your vehicle within Bluetooth and then synchronization should start on its own. If you are having trouble, or if none of these options are working, feel free to stop by our dealership where we will help you out.

  • How do I change my windshield wipers?

Changing your own windshield wipers is a relatively simple process. First, verify in the store that the new windshield wipers you are about to purchase are, in fact, compatible with your vehicle. To remove the existing wiper blades, lift up the entire arm assembly so that the wipers are pointing away from your windshield. Then, locate the u-shaped clip on the hinge where the arm meets the wiper blade. Gently pop this out of place and then lower the arm toward the car. From here, you should be able to remove the old wiper blade from the loosened clip and then put the new one in place. While this process is not complicated, feel free to contact our dealership if you have any questions, or if you would like to get your windshield wipers installed by a professional.

  • How do I change my car battery?

No battery will last forever. Before jumping to the conclusion that your car battery is dead, check to see if there's a blue residue around the terminal, and make sure that it has had a minimum of 30 minutes to recharge and also check the alternator. If you've performed all three of these steps and your battery still isn't functioning, then you should consider changing it. By having this done at the dealership, you won't have to pay the extra tax, as long as you bring in your old battery. To replace the battery yourself, start by locating and identifying the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals. Disconnect the negative terminal, and only after that, you can disconnect the positive. After these steps, remove the battery and insert the new one. Reconnect the positive and negative terminals to their appropriate markings on the new battery. Tighten everything using tweezers, close the hood, and verify that your new battery works properly. If you are not comfortable changing the battery on your own, you can always bring your vehicle to our dealership, where our professional technicians will do it for you for a small fee.

  • Does my vehicle require premium or high-octane fuel?

Gasoline is often available in many different octane ratings, which establish how much compression fuel can undergo before combustion takes place. The higher the rating, the greater compression the fuel can undergo. 87 octane gas is the most standard offering at most gas stations. While higher-octane options are available, take caution that the difference in price per litre adds up quickly and, for many people, the difference it makes in your vehicle can be negligible. Be sure to check your user manual to find out which octane range of gasoline is ideal for your vehicle. You can also check online, or contact our service department if you'd like to know more.

  • How can I increase my vehicle's fuel efficiency?

There are many different ways to increase your vehicle's efficiency and lower the amount of gas that it consumes. Firstly, when you plan your route, try to reduce any unnecessary backtracking. Secondly, always try to maintain a consistent speed when on the highway -- your vehicle's cruise control function can be a huge help in this regard. Accelerate and decelerate slowly, and when possible, try not to leave your vehicle idling or start it up too far in advance of when you will be driving. Also, try to leave your windows raised when on the highway, to reduce drag. Always be sure to change your oil on time, ensure that your tire pressure is in the recommended range and avoid carrying unnecessary weight or cargo in your vehicle when possible. Also, be sure to check your vehicle's air filters and its oxygen sensors.

  • How do I check my vehicle's antifreeze levels?

Checking the level of your vehicle's antifreeze fluid is a simple process. First, make sure that your vehicle has cooled fully since your last time driving it. Nowadays, the tank is usually at least somewhat transparent, which means by looking at it you can get a good idea as to how much liquid is left inside. It is recommended that you check your fluid levels at least a few times per year. If you find yourself low on antifreeze fluid, you can find it readily available at almost any gas station. To add more fluid, simply remove the cap, and pour it into the antifreeze chamber. Replace the cap, and you'll be on your way, worry-free. If you have any questions about this process, or would like us to change your antifreeze for you, be sure to contact our service department.

  • How do I check my transmission fluid levels?

You must check your transmission fluid levels at least once per month. Performing this check is a relatively simple process. Firstly, remove the cap and its attached dipstick from the transmission fluid chamber. If you are unsure as to where this is, refer to your vehicle's owner’s manual. The cap is generally a yellow or red colour and is fairly easy to identify. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it with a clean rag, and gently replace it into the tank before pulling it out again. 2 markings are found on the dipstick, hot or cold. Look at the lab with the 'hot' indicator, and make note of the results. If the tank is not full, gently add the fluid if possible, and measure again. Replace the dipstick and cap once this has been completed. Contact our service department if you need any other information about this process.

  • What do I do if my air conditioner no longer cools my vehicle?

There are many possible explanations for an air conditioner that has seemingly stopped working. The first possibility is of a leak in the condenser, evaporator, or the main pipe. If your compressor is at the end of its life, you'll likely hear a loud noise when you attempt to start the air conditioner. Finally, there might be an obstructed pipe somewhere in the system, which could cause your air conditioning system to emit hot air instead of cold. No matter what the reason is for your air conditioner problems, you can make an appointment with our trained service professionals and be confident that your vehicle is in good hands.

  • Why is my motor running slowly?

A motor that feels slower than usual is often the result of another, larger, underlying problem. One reason might be that it's time to clean your carburetor or to change your spark plugs. Other issues that may be the cause of your problem include trouble with your exhaust system or a general loss of power during the winter when cold weather makes your car work harder. To prevent this problem, make sure that your vehicle receives regular checkups on schedule. If you're already experiencing this issue, we recommend that you book an appointment with one of our technicians as soon as possible. Come see us at the dealership if you are having issues, or would like to avoid this problem in the future.

  • What is wrong with my brakes?

Your brakes are one of the most important parts of your vehicle and they are its primary safety feature. If your technician recommends that you repair or change your vehicle's brakes, you should try to have these repairs done as soon as possible. The cost of repairs will depend mainly on the nature of the repair, how long it takes and the place in which you have the work done. Any one of several problems can arise: your brake pedal might be kicking back against your foot, which can be caused by a defect in your brakes, or a problem with your brake pads. The brake pedal might also stay stuck on the floor of your vehicle. This is often the result of a fluid leak in the brake system, or could also be caused by a problem with your master cylinder. If your brakes squeak, it's usually a sign that your brake pads need to be replaced. If, when you press on the brake pedal, it causes the whole vehicle to vibrate, your problem most likely lies in the alignment of your wheels, or because your brake pads aren't touching the wheels correctly. In any case, your best course of action is to bring your vehicle in to your dealership for inspection by a qualified technician, who will be able to accurately diagnose any brake or brake pad issues.

  • What is a powertrain warranty?

A powertrain warranty is essentially an agreement to replace or repair the relevant parts of a malfunctioning vehicle. The warranty includes multiple components of the vehicle, including the motor, transmission, etc. Also, it's important to note that the warranty changes from one brand to another. So when you buy a vehicle, be sure that you know what's covered under this warranty and what isn't, so that you don't receive a nasty surprise when something goes wrong.

  • What is covered under the extended warranty?

An extended warranty is kind of like an insurance policy on your vehicle and can be purchased during or even after you buy it. To choose the best plan for you and your vehicle, there are certain things you might have to consider. In all likelihood, you will own your vehicle for a longer amount of time than the manufacturer's warranty covers. Therefore, when purchasing additional or extended warranty packages, you should keep the reliability of the vehicle in mind and for how long you wish to own it. Also, it's important to keep track of who is providing the warranty. Normally, extended warranties will be offered either by the manufacturer themselves, the dealership, or a third party. Certain warranties are able to be transferred if you decide to sell the vehicle while the warranty is still valid as well. Most importantly, make sure that you're familiar with what is included as part of the warranty and what isn't, and compare your offer with other warranties before you decide on any single one. For more information, don't hesitate to contact us.
